About KuCoin
KuCoin Token (KCS) is the utility token of the KuCoin cryptocurrency exchange. It exists to provide benefits within the KuCoin platform rather than to power a separate blockchain network. KuCoin was co-founded in 2013 by Michael Gan and Eric Don, along with other early team members. KCS launched in September 2017 as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain. Because it runs on Ethereum, KCS does not have its own consensus mechanism or validator network. Holders use KCS to receive trading-fee discounts, earn a share of exchange revenue through the KCS bonus program, and participate in certain governance decisions on the platform. The token launched with an initial supply cap of 200 million KCS. KuCoin describes it as deflationary through a program of buybacks and burns, with a stated long-term target of reducing the circulating supply to 100 million tokens. KCS is an exchange-focused asset whose value is tied to activity and growth on the KuCoin platform.
