About Moca Network
Moca Network is an interoperable consumer and data network that grew out of Animoca Brands' Mocaverse ecosystem. It covers cultural sectors like gaming, sports, and music, and uses an identity-driven proof-of-data model for credentials and reputation. The project was developed and launched by Animoca Brands. Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, is a launch partner of the Moca Foundation, and Kenneth Shek is the project lead. The MOCA token and Moca Network went live in July 2024, with the token's initial exchange listing reported on July 11, 2024. MOCA is a fungible token built on the LayerZero v2 protocol. It has a chain-agnostic design meant to operate across multiple L1 and L2 chains, connecting a network of subnets tied to consumer and cultural applications. The token is issued by the Moca Foundation and works as both a utility and governance token. It is used to pay network and credential-related fees, participate in DAO governance, and stake by core participants to secure identity and data services. Users and partners use the network to issue and verify identity and credential data, access consumer dApps, and build reputation across the ecosystem. MOCA has a fixed, capped supply of 8,888,888,888 tokens distributed over a multi-year emission schedule with no further minting. The network ties together interoperable identity, credential, and consumer application infrastructure across cultural sectors through a single token-powered system.
