About Backpack
Backpack is a cryptocurrency exchange and wallet ecosystem built around Solana-based DeFi integrations. Its native token, BP, functions as a utility and staking token that powers platform features rather than operating as a standalone layer-1 blockchain. The team behind Backpack is closely associated with the Mad Lads NFT project and the broader Solana community. BP was formally structured and documented in 2026. The BP token launched as a Solana SPL token at its Token Generation Event on March 23, 2026. At launch, 25% of the total supply was distributed immediately to community participants, including Backpack Points holders and Mad Lads NFT holders, via airdrop. No allocation went to founders, team, or investors at launch. Because BP is an SPL token, it inherits its technical design and consensus from the Solana network, which uses a proof-of-stake mechanism combined with proof-of-history. BP does not operate any independent consensus layer. The token (ticker BP) is used for trading fee discounts, staking for platform benefits and yields, payment of protocol service fees, and access to special features across Backpack's exchange, wallet, and Solana DeFi integrations. BP has a hard-capped supply of one billion tokens. The remaining 75% will be released in phased schedules tied to platform growth and corporate milestones, with no inflation beyond that cap specified. The token is designed to reward active users of the Backpack platform across its exchange, wallet, and broader Solana ecosystem.
