OpenWorld launches tokenized OPNW shares on Solana

OpenWorld explores decentralized markets amid growing interest in tokenization and blockchain's role in capital markets.

OpenWorld, Inc., a blockchain company listed on the Nasdaq under the ticker OPNW, announced that its common stock is now available on the Solana network as a tokenized security. The Lake Mary, Florida-based firm said the tokenized shares were issued by Backpack Securities and launched through Sunrise, a gateway to the Solana ecosystem built by Wormhole Labs.

The move makes OpenWorld one of a small but growing number of publicly traded companies whose equity can be accessed through both a traditional stock exchange and an on-chain marketplace. Tokenized OPNW supports around-the-clock trading, continuous settlement, and self-custody through compatible wallets, giving eligible investors an alternative channel to buy and hold shares outside conventional brokerage hours.

Matthew Shaw, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of OpenWorld, framed the initiative as an extension of the company’s core business.

“We believe the same infrastructure can create meaningful opportunities for shareholders of public companies,” Shaw said. “Supporting the launch of OPNW on Solana is a natural step for us, and one that reflects our confidence in the role blockchain will play in the capital markets’ future.”

No new shares were created for the Solana launch. The company said the on-chain listing complements its existing Nasdaq presence rather than replacing it. OpenWorld remains subject to the same SEC reporting requirements and corporate governance standards that apply to all Nasdaq-listed firms. Outstanding share count is unchanged, and the initiative does not constitute a capital raise.

The tokenized security relies on two infrastructure providers. Backpack Securities handles issuance, custody, and redemption, offering holders a pathway to convert tokenized OPNW back into a traditional security entitlement that can be transferred to another brokerage. Sunrise establishes and supports the token’s market on Solana.

Armani Ferrante, Chief Executive Officer of Backpack, said the bridge between on-chain and traditional markets is central to the product’s utility.

“Tokenized equities become substantially more useful when investors can move between onchain markets and traditional brokerage infrastructure,” Ferrante said.

Dividends and corporate actions are supported under both ownership models. Shares held through Backpack Securities receive distributions via conventional brokerage channels. For tokenized OPNW, those same economic events are reflected through on-chain mechanisms, though the company cautioned that timing and tax treatment may differ from the traditional pathway.

Saeed Badreg, Chief Executive Officer of Wormhole Labs, said the launch illustrates how issuers can reach international investor communities by bringing stock onto a blockchain network. OpenWorld’s decision to tokenize its own equity mirrors the services it sells to enterprise clients, structuring real-world assets into blockchain-based financial instruments.

Strategic context and recent milestones

OpenWorld became a publicly traded company on October 1, 2026, making the Solana launch its first major capital-markets initiative barely five weeks after its Nasdaq debut. It announced non-binding term sheets to finance an AI patent portfolio for a firm called BeyondAI and a distributed, solar-powered AI computing network developed by Meridian that uses Tesla Powerwall home batteries.

The company also completed its acquisition of Blocksight, a platform that uses AI agents to assist with structuring, verification, and investor onboarding for tokenized financing deals.

A planned dual listing on Figure’s On-chain Public Equity Network, known as Figure OPEN, remains on track for the fourth quarter of 2026. If completed, that would give OpenWorld equity a presence on Nasdaq, Solana, and Figure OPEN, three distinct market venues spanning traditional and decentralized infrastructure.
