About Nano
Nano is a decentralized digital currency designed for instant, feeless peer-to-peer payments. It uses a block-lattice architecture where each account has its own blockchain rather than sharing a single chain. Colin LeMahieu started developing the project in 2014 and launched it as RaiBlocks (XRB) in 2015. It was later rebranded to Nano. The network distributed its supply through a CAPTCHA faucet from late 2015 until October 2017. After distribution ended, undistributed tokens were burned, and no further issuance occurred. Nano's consensus mechanism is Open Representative Voting, a vote-based system resembling proof of stake. XNO holders delegate their voting weight to representatives, who validate transactions and resolve conflicts like double-spends. The native token uses the ticker XNO. It is the currency for value transfer on the network, and holders also use it to assign voting weight by delegating to representatives. There are no block rewards, staking rewards, or transaction fees. The total supply is fixed at approximately 133,248,297 XNO, all effectively in circulation with no ongoing issuance or inflation. Nano's single design goal is fast, feeless digital payments between individuals and merchants.
