Re Protocol is a decentralized onchain reinsurance marketplace that tokenizes exposure to real-world reinsurance risk. The protocol uses a tranche-based capital stack design rather than a traditional blockchain consensus mechanism. reUSD sits at the senior layer of this stack, meaning losses are absorbed by subordinate layers before affecting reUSD holders. The native token, reUSD (ticker: REUSD), is a yield-bearing, principal-protected deposit token that gives holders a claim on returns generated from reinsurance-related assets and onchain liquidity sources. REUSD is not used for transaction fees, staking, or governance. The protocol deploys capital into offchain reinsurance collateral while maintaining onchain redemption liquidity for token holders. REUSD has no fixed maximum supply; circulating supply is reported dynamically rather than against a set cap.
