About Renzo
Renzo is a decentralized finance liquid restaking protocol built on Ethereum that interfaces with EigenLayer. Users can restake Ethereum-based assets through liquid restaking tokens like ezETH and ezREZ to secure Actively Validated Services and earn restaking yields. The protocol was co-founded by Lucas Kozinski, James Poole, and Kratik Lodha, with development occurring in the early to mid-2020s before the token launch. REZ launched in April 2024, including a Binance Launchpool event, with trading and unlock schedules running between 23 and 30 April 2024. Renzo does not operate its own consensus network. It relies on Ethereum's proof-of-stake consensus and the EigenLayer restaking framework, using liquid restaking tokens to delegate security to AVSs. REZ is an ERC-20 governance and utility token. Holders vote on protocol matters including operator and AVS whitelisting, risk-management parameters, staking limits, and treasury grants. It is also used in restaking through ezREZ, which represents REZ staked in EigenLayer and delegated to operators securing AVSs. REZ has a fixed maximum supply of 10 billion tokens. The initial circulating supply at listing was approximately 1.15 billion, with a vesting schedule running through 2027. Buyback-and-burn activity has permanently reduced total supply by over one percent. Renzo consolidates access to EigenLayer restaking by providing liquid token wrappers that let holders secure multiple services while retaining liquidity.
