About TRON
TRON is an open-source blockchain platform that supports smart contracts and decentralized applications, with TRX as its native token. TRX pays transaction fees, can be staked to obtain network resources and voting rights, and is used for governance across the ecosystem. Justin Sun founded the project, and its public network launched in 2018 after earlier work through the TRON Foundation. TRON reaches agreement through delegated proof of stake, in which 27 elected super representatives produce blocks and confirm transactions. Its supply model mixes issuance and burning: TRX is minted as block and voter rewards, while transaction fees destroy TRX. Some sources cite a maximum near 100 billion, with circulating supply below that.
