About Uniswap
Uniswap is a decentralized exchange on Ethereum that lets people swap tokens through automated market making and liquidity pools instead of a central order book. UNI is its governance token, and holders use it to vote on proposals that shape the protocol's development and upgrades. Hayden Adams created Uniswap and first launched it in November 2018, and the UNI token followed in September 2020. Uniswap has no consensus of its own; it is a set of smart contracts that run on Ethereum, and UNI itself is an ERC-20 token. The supply is fixed at 1 billion UNI minted at the start, released to participants over about four years.
