Mastercard’s BVNK adds Stellar to stablecoin payments platform

Stellar processed $55.6 billion in payment volume in 2025 and has an average settlement speed of about five seconds, according to BVNK and the Stellar Development Foundation.

Mastercard-owned BVNK has integrated Stellar into its stablecoin payments infrastructure, allowing businesses to move stablecoins over the network through a single API.

“By integrating Stellar’s established payment network, we are giving our customers another efficient, low-cost route to move money globally through a single platform and API. Businesses can choose the networks and assets that best fit their needs, without having to build and maintain the infrastructure to connect to each one themselves,” Kim Mescal Julien, Head of Partnerships at BVNK, said in a statement.

Mastercard completed its purchase of BVNK last month, after announcing a deal worth up to $1.8 billion. Its stablecoin infrastructure has been integrated into Mastercard’s payments business to bridge fiat payment rails and onchain assets, supporting applications such as cross-border B2B payments, payouts, settlement and treasury management.

The integration adds another blockchain rail for high-volume cross-border payments, merchant payouts and treasury disbursements.

Julien said global payments are moving toward a multi-chain, multi-asset model, while businesses should not need to manage the technical burden of connecting with dozens of individual blockchains.

Stellar, a blockchain focused on payments and digital asset transfers, processed $55.6 billion in payment volume in 2025. BVNK said it has processed about $39 billion in annualized volume, with its platform designed to abstract the technical complexity of connecting businesses to individual blockchain networks.

“Businesses moving money at scale need to know it works every time, in every corridor. Stellar has spent a decade building a payments network that financial institutions and regulated enterprises depend on for cross-border transfers, payouts, and stablecoin settlement,” Denelle Dixon, CEO & Executive Director of the Stellar Development Foundation stated.

The Stellar integration is live for all BVNK enterprise customers across more than 130 countries. BVNK said customers will be able to access additional Stellar-native assets as the company adds support for them without requiring separate technical integrations.
