Microsoft, Marvell and Utimaco launch cloud-scale payment security platform
The three tech companies are combining hardware security modules with cloud infrastructure to help payment providers ditch on-premises hardware and move to scalable, compliant systems.
Microsoft, Marvell and Utimaco have introduced Azure Payment HSM v2, a managed cloud service that combines Marvell LiquidSecurity HSM technology, Utimaco Atalla Payments Module software and Microsoft Azure for payment security.
The companies said the platform offers solutions for financial institutions and payment service providers that need to secure critical payment workloads while meeting PCI requirements, audit and compliance obligations, performance demands and cryptographic key sovereignty requirements without operating dedicated payment HSM infrastructure.
Customers can use Utimaco’s payment security software for card issuance, PIN translation, mobile payments and key management, while Marvell’s HSMs provide hardware-based key protection and high transaction throughput, the companies noted.
Azure delivers the combined technology as a fully managed service, removing the need for customers to deploy and operate dedicated payment HSM infrastructure.
