About Ardor

Ardor is a multi-chain blockchain platform built around a parent chain that provides security and consensus for attached child chains. The first and most feature-complete child chain is Ignis, which handles application-level transactions. Ardor was created by Jelurida, a blockchain software company founded by Lior Yaffe, Kristina Kalcheva, and Petko Petkov. The project evolved from the earlier NXT blockchain, which began in 2013. Ardor's mainnet launched with its genesis block on January 1, 2018. Ardor uses a pure proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. ARDR token balances determine forging power on the parent chain, while child chains use their own tokens for transaction fees. Forgers ultimately receive these fees converted to ARDR. The native token, ARDR, is used to forge blocks and secure the parent chain's consensus. ARDR has a fixed supply of approximately 998 million tokens, all created at or before launch, with no ongoing inflation or mining-based issuance. Organizations can deploy custom child chains for their own applications while relying on the Ardor parent chain for security and consensus.
