Midtjylland rejects €12.5M bid from Turkish club for Aral Simsir
Danish club holds firm on its €15M valuation as Premier League and European clubs circle the Turkish winger
FC Midtjylland has turned down a €12.5 million offer from a Turkish club for winger Aral Simsir, signaling that the Danish Superliga side has no intention of letting its most prized asset go on the cheap.
The bidding war so far
Trabzonspor opened negotiations back in January 2026 with an offer around €8 million, inclusive of add-ons. That was politely declined. A second, improved proposal exceeded €10 million in February. Also declined. Now a €12.5 million bid has met the same fate. Midtjylland has drawn a clear line in the sand, setting a minimum asking price of €15 million for Simsir.
The club’s negotiating position is strengthened considerably by Simsir’s contract situation. His deal runs through 2029, which means Midtjylland faces zero pressure to sell.
Why clubs keep calling
Simsir has recorded 26 goals and 40 assists across 144 appearances for Midtjylland. In February 2026, Simsir was named the Danish Superliga Player of the Month after scoring three goals and providing two assists. He then capped the campaign by winning the league’s Player of the Year award in May 2026.
Born on June 19, 2002, the interest list includes Premier League clubs Leeds United, Crystal Palace, and Brentford. Turkish giants Galatasaray and Besiktas are monitoring the situation alongside Trabzonspor. French side Lille has reportedly shown interest, and even Major League Soccer’s San Diego FC has entered the conversation.
Midtjylland’s playbook
Market estimates have placed his value anywhere between €3 million and €10 million, depending on the source. Midtjylland wants €15 million minimum. If Trabzonspor wants to close the deal, the gap between €12.5 million and €15 million is theirs to bridge.
