OpenAI sets livestream for ChatGPT Work update as enterprise AI race heats up
The company's enterprise AI push now counts over 7 million paid seats, and tomorrow's announcement could reshape how businesses deploy AI tools.
OpenAI is going live tomorrow with what it’s calling “ChatGPT Work,” a livestream event focused on its enterprise-facing AI products. The announcement, posted on X, was characteristically light on specifics.
What we know about the event
The livestream is scheduled for July 9, 2026. OpenAI has used this format before, notably for the GPT-5 rollout on August 7, 2025, and the ChatGPT Images 2.0 unveiling on April 21, 2026.
Previous streams have featured CEO Sam Altman and other senior team members, typically broadcast on YouTube.
ChatGPT for Work, sometimes referred to as ChatGPT Business or Enterprise, already offers shared workspaces, administrative controls, and integrations with third-party applications. Past updates in this product line have covered features like Canvas, deep research tools, and OpenAI’s o1 reasoning models.
The paid seat count tells the growth story better than any keynote could. ChatGPT for Work surpassed 7 million paid seats as of late 2025, a figure that reflected a 40% increase over just two months. Enterprise seats specifically grew 9x year-over-year by November 2025.
