Paris Saint-Germain draws 1-1 with Manchester United ahead of UEFA Super Cup
PSG's second pre-season warm-up ends level in Gothenburg as the champions of Europe prepare to face Aston Villa in Salzburg
Four days before they face Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup, Paris Saint-Germain played out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The match at Nya Ullevi Stadium on August 8 gave both clubs a competitive look before the season opens in earnest, with the UEFA Super Cup set for August 12 at Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria.
How the game played out
PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye wasted little time, putting the French side ahead in the second minute. Manchester United’s Bryan Mbeumo pulled his side level in the 32nd minute, and neither team found a winner from there.
For PSG, the visit to Gothenburg carried a small layer of familiarity. This was the club’s third trip to the Swedish city, having beaten local side IFK Göteborg 1-0 during the 2025-26 Champions League group stage.
Both clubs have one more pre-season fixture remaining before the real work begins.

PSG: the most dominant European club of this moment
PSG arrives at the Super Cup as the reigning back-to-back UEFA Champions League champion. In the 2025 final, PSG dismantled Inter Milan 5-0. Then in 2026, facing Arsenal in the final, they won on penalties.
PSG also claimed the Super Cup in 2025, meaning they enter the Salzburg fixture as the defending holders of the trophy they are about to contest.
Aston Villa, their opponent on August 12, arrives as the reigning Europa League champion.
