Starknet strkBTC faucet claims go live as registration reopens on the 29th
The privacy-enabled Bitcoin wrapper on Starknet is distributing small allocations to 100 users per round, echoing the early Bitcoin faucet playbook.
Starknet’s weekly strkBTC faucet has officially flipped the switch on claims, letting registered users collect their share of privacy-wrapped Bitcoin on the network. Registration for the next round reopens on September 29.
The faucet, hosted at strkbtc.starknet.io/faucet, distributes approximately $833 worth of strkBTC per weekly round across up to 100 randomly selected participants. That works out to roughly $8.33 per person.
How the faucet actually works
The claim process runs in two stages. First, users connect a Starknet-compatible wallet like Xverse, pass a screening confirmation, and receive an unshielded allocation of strkBTC along with a bonus in STRK, Starknet’s native token.
Then comes the more interesting part. Users can optionally switch their claim to a “shielded” state through compatible wallets, toggling the visibility of their holdings from public to private.
That toggle is powered by what Starknet calls the STRK20 privacy framework, which lets holders move between transparent and shielded states at will. Your Bitcoin-backed tokens stay redeemable, but prying eyes can’t see how much you’re holding unless you want them to.

strkBTC itself is a Bitcoin wrapper on Starknet, backed 1:1 by BTC. It launched earlier in 2026 as Starknet pushed deeper into integrating Bitcoin functionality within its Layer 2 ecosystem.
The faucet playbook, updated for 2026
The original Bitcoin faucet, launched by Gavin Andresen in 2010, gave away 5 BTC per visitor.
Starknet is borrowing from the same strategic handbook. Small, low-cost distributions designed to get new users through the door, wallets connected, and transactions completed. The 100-user cap per round creates artificial scarcity that doubles as a controlled onboarding mechanism.
Privacy as a product differentiator
Starknet’s approach with the STRK20 framework tries to thread that needle. The toggle between public and shielded states means assets aren’t permanently obscured. Users can prove holdings when needed, whether for tax compliance, institutional reporting, or simply personal preference, then retreat behind the privacy curtain when they don’t want their portfolio broadcasted to the entire blockchain.
With registration reopening on September 29, the next batch of 100 users will get their chance to claim a few dollars of privacy-wrapped Bitcoin.
