Strategy backs Trump’s investment accounts for children with $250 annual contribution
Michael Saylor's company joins the Invest America Business Pledge alongside Dell, Micron, and Visa to fund tax-deferred youth savings accounts
Strategy, the company formerly known as MicroStrategy and chaired by Bitcoin maximalist Michael Saylor, committed to the Invest America Business Pledge on August 5, promising a $1,000 one-time match for newborns of US employees and $250 in annual contributions for each eligible child until they turn 18. The accounts in question are so-called Trump Accounts, formally known as 530A accounts, which are tax-deferred investment vehicles created under the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.”
How the Trump Accounts work
Under the federal legislation, every child born between 2025 and 2028 receives a $1,000 government seed deposited into a 530A account. The money gets invested in low-fee US equity index funds.
Strategy’s pledge layers on top of that government seed. For each newborn child of a US employee born after January 1, 2025, the company will match the government’s $1,000. Then it kicks in $250 annually for every eligible child until their 18th birthday.
The actual contributions won’t begin until the US Treasury provides final guidance and the necessary infrastructure is built out.
Strategy isn’t alone in this
Dell has pledged $6.25 billion to cover 25 million children. Micron committed $250 million. Visa is also on board.
The Bitcoin company buying index funds (sort of)
Strategy isn’t choosing what the 530A accounts invest in. That’s baked into the federal program’s design, which specifies low-fee US equity index funds. The company is simply participating in a government-backed initiative with a fixed investment structure.
