Stripe expands Asian payment partnerships as startups go global faster

New integrations with local wallets aim to simplify cross-border payments as AI-native businesses enter more markets earlier.

Stripe is expanding partnerships with local payment platforms across Asia as startups internationalize earlier, Fortune reported.

The company announced integrations involving South Korea’s Samsung Pay, Malaysia’s Touch ’n Go, Singapore’s ShopeePay, the Philippines’ GCash, and Thailand’s TrueMoney. The partnerships let Stripe businesses accept payments through smaller local providers.

Stripe’s survey found that Singapore-based AI firms enter an average of seven new markets within their first year. A separate 2025 study found the top 100 AI companies on Stripe reached $1 million in annualized revenue in a median 11.5 months.

Stripe is also developing tools for agentic commerce, including shared payment tokens that let AI agents pass buyer credentials securely to merchants. Early adopters include Coach, Kate Spade, Etsy, and Halara.
