UK to share SCALP missile technology with Ukraine

The agreement will allow Kyiv to assemble the French-produced, British Storm Shadow equivalent in Ukraine as Russian strikes intensify.

The UK will share classified information on British components for the long-range SCALP cruise missile with Ukraine, allowing Kyiv to assemble the weapon domestically.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced the decision during a visit to Kyiv and urged the US Congress to increase economic pressure on Russia by advancing sanctions legislation.

SCALP is the French-produced version of the UK’s Storm Shadow and uses shared French and British technology. The UK government said the agreement could support Ukraine’s defense capabilities ahead of winter.

Burnham also urged European partners to help Ukraine obtain Patriot missiles and said Kyiv needed more support to protect its people.
