USMNT makes nine lineup changes for World Cup match against Türkiye
Two players set to make their FIFA World Cup debuts as the US rotates heavily for the 2026 tournament on home soil
The US Men’s National Team rolled out a dramatically different starting eleven for their World Cup clash against Türkiye, swapping out nine players from their previous lineup. Two of those new starters are making their first-ever FIFA World Cup appearances.
A World Cup built for experimentation
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is a historic edition of the tournament. It’s the first to feature 48 participating nations, up from the traditional 32-team format. The US is co-hosting alongside Canada and Mexico, which means the Americans qualified automatically and have had a different kind of preparation cycle than teams that had to grind through qualifying rounds.
