112M Americans want crypto services from banks, NCA poll finds

A Harris Poll survey for the National Cryptocurrency Association shows strong demand for bank-offered crypto, but most institutions have never raised the topic

Roughly 112 million Americans say they would reward their bank for offering crypto. Most of their banks have never brought it up.

That is the core tension in the National Cryptocurrency Association’s new “Crypto at the Bank 2026” report, released October 19, 2026.

What the survey found

The report draws on a Harris Poll survey of 2,017 US adults, conducted September 15-16, 2026. The results carry a precision of ±2.7 points at the 95% level.

The headline number: 42% of US adults said they would be more inclined to open a new account, or move more business, to a bank or credit union offering crypto services. The NCA puts that at about 112 million people.

Then comes the awkward part. Some 64% of respondents, or roughly 168 million people, said they had never received crypto information from their bank, credit union, or financial advisor.

Comfort levels are higher than you might expect. About 59% of US adults, which the report estimates at approximately 156 million, said they would feel very or somewhat comfortable with their primary bank holding crypto on their behalf.

Who wants it, and what they want

Interest is not spread evenly across the population. Parents of children under 18 showed the strongest appetite, at 62%.

Adults aged 35-44 came in at 58%. Hispanic adults registered 57% interest, while Black adults came in at 56%.

On the product side, respondents pointed to a few specific services. Crypto ETFs or funds drew 22% interest, matching the 22% who want direct buy-and-hold access.

Tokenized assets attracted 19%. Tokenization means representing traditional assets, such as stocks or real estate, as digital tokens on a blockchain.

Where expectations are heading

About 60% predicted that most US banks will offer crypto services within the next decade.

Among adults aged 18-34, that expectation climbs to 74%.

The report also looked at what happens when crypto conversations actually take place in banking settings. Recommendations outnumbered discouragements by roughly 4-to-1.
