Executives from Animoca, Franklin Templeton and XDC Network will discuss how onchain versions of traditional assets could widen investor access

Animoca Brands is bringing Wall Street and Web3 into the same room during Hong Kong Fintech Week. Its panel will focus on how tokenized real-world assets could open up investment opportunities that have long been out of reach for most people.

The session is titled “From Wall Street to Onchain Vaults: The Convergence of TradFi & Web3.” It is a mouthful, but the premise is simple: traditional finance is putting more of its products on blockchains, and it is no longer only crypto natives who are paying attention.

Who is on stage, and when

Hong Kong Fintech Week 2026 is scheduled for November 2 to 6. Animoca’s panel is set for November 3 and will take place at the company’s Hong Kong office, not on the main conference floor.

The speaker list covers both sides of the TradFi and crypto divide:

  • Brian Chan, representing Animoca Brands
  • Chetan Karkhanis of Franklin Templeton
  • Chen Shanlong of XDC Network

Jingyi Sun is listed as moderator, and event materials credit Talos with moderating the session.

The mix matters. Franklin Templeton is a traditional asset manager, Animoca is a Web3 investor, and XDC Network is blockchain infrastructure. Put together, the panel looks a lot like the supply chain behind a tokenized asset: someone issues it, someone builds the rails, and someone distributes it to investors.

Why tokenized RWAs are getting attention

A tokenized real-world asset is a blockchain-based representation of something that exists off-chain, such as a stock, a bond or a fund share. The asset still exists, but ownership can now be recorded, moved and settled on a blockchain.

The panel’s framing reflects that pitch. It is aimed at how tokenization is changing traditional finance and creating wider investment options for both institutional traders and retail investors.

The numbers suggest more than a conference talking point. The market for tokenized public equities has grown to approximately $1.4 billion within the past year, up from close to zero.

Animoca’s partnership with Franklin Templeton is a big part of why this panel lineup makes sense. The two firms are working together on RWA tokenization, including the NUVA vault marketplace.

NUVA is built to connect institutional-grade assets with on-chain platforms. It is meant to be a marketplace where assets that normally live inside traditional finance can be accessed through crypto infrastructure.

The bigger Hong Kong Fintech Week picture

The panel is one event inside a much larger gathering. Hong Kong Fintech Week is expected to draw more than 45,000 attendees from over 120 economies.

The program includes a dedicated Digital Assets and Web3 Forum, along with sessions on tokenization and stablecoins.

For Animoca, the timing lines up with its strategic priorities for 2026. Those priorities include expanding tokenized assets and building regulated infrastructure for them.

From games to vaults: Animoca’s path

Animoca Brands was founded in Hong Kong in 2014 by Yat Siu. Many people first knew it as a gaming-focused investor.

Over time, the company has shifted toward tokenized assets and toward linking traditional finance with blockchain technology. Its portfolio now covers more than 600 companies.

Beyond Franklin Templeton, Animoca has partnerships with Standard Chartered and HK Telecom. It has also built platforms like NUVA that sit at the meeting point of the two financial worlds.
