About XDC Network

XDC Network is an enterprise-focused, EVM-compatible Layer-1 hybrid blockchain protocol built for trade finance and real-world asset tokenization. It was created by the XinFin team, with the mainnet and token launching in 2019 under the name XinFin Digital Contract. The network uses XinFin Delegated Proof of Stake, a consensus mechanism that was upgraded in 2024 with XDC 2.0. That upgrade introduced a BFT committee-based protocol based on Chained HotStuff, bringing transaction finality to approximately six seconds and adding forensic detection of malicious validator nodes. The native token, XDC, is used to pay transaction and smart contract fees, to stake or delegate to validator masternodes, and as the base asset for applications on the network, including the trade finance platform TradeFinex. The network's primary real-world application is digitizing and settling global trade finance instruments like invoices and letters of credit, and tokenizing real-world assets for enterprise and institutional use. XDC has no fixed maximum supply. Total minted supply has been reported in the range of roughly 37 to 38 billion XDC, with circulating supply around 19 to 20 billion XDC. The network is designed as infrastructure for connecting traditional trade finance and capital markets to blockchain-based settlement and tokenization.
