Anthropic commits $150M to the Genesis Mission to support federal AI research
The three year commitment will support Claude access and research projects across more than 15 federal agencies.
Anthropic committed $150 million over three years to the Genesis Mission, a federal initiative aimed at accelerating scientific and technological discovery through AI.
The commitment will support access to Claude across more than 15 participating agencies, including NASA, the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
Anthropic announced the expansion at the Science: A New Golden Age Summit, hosted by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy in Washington, DC.
The company said it will provide Claude, Claude Code and API credits to several hundred research projects. It will also offer training, onboarding and technical support to participating scientists and help agencies launch their first Genesis Mission projects.
The effort includes partnerships with federal agencies and national laboratories on priorities such as fusion energy and quantum computing.

Anthropic first announced its Genesis Mission partnership with the Department of Energy in December. Since then, it has worked with the department to expand Claude access among scientists at national laboratories.
The new commitment builds on a broader push into scientific research. Earlier this year, Anthropic launched Claude Science, an AI workbench that integrates tools and software packages commonly used by researchers.
The company also offered 10,000 free and discounted Claude seats to academic scientists and expanded its AI for Science program, which provides credits for research projects.
Separately, Anthropic began a research preview of the Model Hardware Standard, a shared specification intended to let AI agents safely operate laboratory instruments.
