Anthropic launches $35 million cyber defense fund alongside Mythos 5 expansion

Claude Mythos 5 is now available in Claude Security as Anthropic expands access to its cyber defense capabilities.

Anthropic is expanding access to Claude Mythos 5 for cybersecurity teams, bringing the model to Claude Security and preparing integrations with third party cyber defense tools.

The company also launched a $35 million Defender Advantage Fund to support open source security and announced plans to expand its Cyber Verification Program.

Anthropic said the expansion is designed to give more defenders access to Mythos 5 capabilities while limiting the risk of offensive cybersecurity use.

Claude Security scans can now run on Mythos 5 for Enterprise customers. The service scans codebases for vulnerabilities and returns severity ratings, confidence scores and suggested fixes. All patches require human review before implementation.

Anthropic is also working with cybersecurity partners to integrate Mythos 5 into existing security products. Users will receive specific outputs such as vulnerability alerts or suggested patches without directly interacting with the underlying model.

The new Defender Advantage Fund will provide $35 million in Claude credits to organizations securing open source software. Funding will focus on patching vulnerabilities, automating security work and developing broader defenses against attacks.

Anthropic also plans to expand its Cyber Verification Program, which currently gives approved cybersecurity organizations reduced safeguards when using Claude Opus and Sonnet models. Mythos class access is expected to follow.

The company said Project Glasswing will continue alongside the expansion, focusing on organizations protecting critical infrastructure in partnership with the United States government.

Anthropic said the initiatives are part of its effort to make frontier AI capabilities more widely available for cyber defense while maintaining safeguards against misuse.
