Apple sets Sept. 9 launch for foldable iPhone and iPhone 18 Pro
The event will be John Ternus’s first major launch as CEO and will not include the regular iPhone 18 or second-generation iPhone Air.
Apple will hold its biggest product launch of the year on Sept. 9 at its Cupertino headquarters, kicking off John Ternus’s tenure as chief executive, Bloomberg reported.
The company is expected to introduce its first foldable iPhone, along with the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Apple said the event will be livestreamed on its website and used the tagline “Surprise and shine” in invitations to media.
The foldable model would be about the size of a standard passport and open to a screen roughly the size of a small iPad, marking the largest design change to the iPhone as it approaches its 20th anniversary.
The iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to feature faster chips, longer battery life and camera improvements, including a mechanical aperture on at least the larger model.

Apple is not expected to unveil a second-generation iPhone Air or the regular iPhone 18 at the event. Those devices are planned for release next spring alongside a low-end iPhone 18e, new Macs and iPads.
