Antonio Alvarez, who recently led Crypto.com’s compliance function, will join Binance as deputy to Chief Compliance Officer Noah Perlman. Duncan DeVille, also formerly of Crypto.com, has become Binance’s global head of financial crime compliance.

Perlman described the hires as a sign of confidence in Binance’s compliance program and its effort to strengthen the department. Crypto.com did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Several senior employees have left Binance’s compliance operation over the past year, according to earlier Bloomberg reporting, adding pressure on the exchange to reinforce financial-crime monitoring.
