Bitdeer adds 28 MW at Soluna’s wind-powered Texas mining site
The co-mining deal will deploy nearly 2 EH/s of hash rate at a wind-powered facility in South Texas, with proceeds split between both companies.
Bitdeer Technologies and Soluna Holdings have struck a co-mining agreement to park roughly 28 megawatts of mining hardware at a wind-powered data center in South Texas. The deployment, slated to begin in September 2026, will add approximately 1.93 exahashes per second to the Bitcoin network’s hash rate, all powered by wind turbines spinning in Willacy County.
How the deal works
The arrangement splits responsibilities cleanly. Soluna provides the site, electricity, and day-to-day operations at its Project Kati 1 facility. Bitdeer brings the mining machines, specifically its Sealminer A2 Pro Air units, and retains ownership of the hardware. Both companies share the mining proceeds.
Deployment will happen in batches rather than all at once, ramping up from a September 2026 start date. Project Kati 1 is an 83 MW wind-powered data center, making the 28 MW addition a meaningful expansion of its utilized capacity without maxing out the site.
For Soluna, the timing is convenient. Project Kati 1 recently posted its first gross profit in the second quarter of 2026, a milestone for a facility that had been operating in the red while scaling up. Adding a tenant like Bitdeer, which supplies its own equipment and shares revenue, is essentially a way to monetize spare capacity with minimal capital expenditure on Soluna’s end.
For Bitdeer, the arrangement lets it expand hash rate without building new infrastructure from scratch. Texas is already familiar territory for the company, which operates several other mining data centers in the state.

Soluna’s bigger picture
Project Kati 1 is Soluna’s largest operational site, but it’s a fraction of the company’s broader ambitions. Soluna currently runs 192 MW of total data center capacity across its portfolio. More eye-catching is its development pipeline: 6.3 gigawatts spread across various projects in different stages of planning and construction.
The company trades on NASDAQ under the ticker SLNH. Bitdeer, also listed on NASDAQ as BTDR, has been developing proprietary ASIC chips and expanding its geographic footprint across multiple continents. The Sealminer line represents Bitdeer’s push into manufacturing its own mining hardware rather than relying solely on third-party suppliers like Bitmain or MicroBT.
The agreement was disclosed through SEC filings and press releases dated August 25, 2026.
