BlackRockās crypto ETF assets jump 63% to roughly $80 billion in Q3
Strong inflows and a Bitcoin rally lifted BlackRock's digital asset business, though it still sits well below its 2025 high
BlackRock’s crypto business had a very good summer. The world’s largest asset manager said its digital assets category grew to approximately $79.6 to $80 billion in assets under management during the third quarter of 2026.
That is up from $48.8 billion at the end of the prior quarter, a jump of roughly 63%. It is also still nowhere near the high-water mark the business set last year.
What BlackRock reported
The firm released its third-quarter results on October 14, 2026. The digital assets segment is driven primarily by two funds: the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and the iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA).
Net inflows into BlackRock’s digital asset exchange-traded products came to $7.9 billion for the quarter. That is the strongest quarterly figure since Q3 2025.
The rest came from price. Bitcoin rose more than 42% during the quarter, moving from approximately $58,564 to around $84,000. Ethereum also posted notable gains over the period.
On-chain data tells a similar story. Arkham Intelligence tracked BlackRock-linked crypto holdings rising by about 62% to $77.1 billion, with IBIT’s Bitcoin making up the bulk of that figure.
Crypto is a rounding error at BlackRock, but a growing one
For context, BlackRock’s overall business is enormous. Total net inflows reached $205 billion in the quarter, pushing firm-wide AUM to a record $15.5 trillion.

Within that, digital assets contributed about $8 billion of the firm’s $135 billion in total ETF flows.
The digital assets category peaked at around $104 billion in September 2025. Even after a 63% quarterly gain, the business remains well short of that level.
The road from the 2025 peak
Assets sat at $48.8 billion heading into the third quarter of 2026, less than half of where they had been a year earlier.
IBIT remains the engine of the business. Arkham’s figures show Bitcoin exposure through the fund dominating BlackRock-linked holdings, with ETHA playing a supporting role.
What this means for investors and the ETF market
The most important number in the report may be the $7.9 billion in net inflows. Price gains can inflate AUM on their own, but inflows show that investors actively chose to put fresh capital to work.
Because so much of the AUM gain came from Bitcoin’s 42%-plus rally, BlackRock’s crypto numbers remain highly sensitive to price. A pullback would shrink the headline figure quickly, even if investors stay put.
The $104 billion peak is now the obvious benchmark. Closing the remaining gap would depend on a combination of continued inflows and further price appreciation.
