Binance Coin fell as much as 9% on October 29, 2026. The drop followed reports that roughly $2.77 billion had moved out of Binance-linked wallets.

Nobody at Binance has said the word “hack.” The market, however, did not wait for a press release before reaching for the sell button.

What the on-chain data showed

The reported outflows spanned five different blockchains and involved more than 60 tokens. On-chain analytics firm TreeAI detected large transfers heading to freshly created addresses.

Some of those transfers were potentially tied to Tornado Cash, the crypto mixing service. That detail is what turned a big-number story into a security-scare story.

Binance has not officially confirmed any asset losses or any breach connected to the movements. As of the reports, the transfers remain unexplained rather than confirmed as malicious.

The broader market felt the pressure anyway. Bitcoin dipped toward $78,000 as the outflow reports circulated.

A shrinking stablecoin cushion

The outflow reports landed on top of a slower trend that was already drawing attention. Binance’s Ethereum stablecoin holdings had fallen to $38.8 billion as of October 22.

That figure was down from $43.9 billion at the end of April 2026. It also sat well below a peak of $45.6 billion recorded in November 2025.

Fresh off a token burn

The timing is awkward for BNB holders. Just days earlier, on October 19-20, BNB Chain completed its 37th quarterly token burn.

That burn removed 1.646 million BNB from circulation, worth approximately $1.197 billion at the time. Total supply dropped to roughly 131.51 million BNB.

Binance has heard this before

This is not the first time rumors about Binance wallets have rattled traders. Earlier unnamed rumors have circulated before, and Binance has previously attributed them to miscommunications or to non-malicious internal transaction activity.

Exchanges routinely shuffle funds between hot wallets, cold storage and new addresses as part of normal operations. Large internal reorganizations can look alarming to anyone watching the blockchain without context.

The scale here is what keeps the uncertainty alive. Billions of dollars, dozens of tokens, five chains and possible links to a mixer make for an unusually loud signal, even if the eventual explanation turns out to be mundane.

What this means for traders and the market

For BNB holders, the immediate question is whether the 9% drop reflects a real problem or a temporary panic. That answer depends almost entirely on what Binance says next and what the on-chain trail reveals.

Key items to track: any official statement from Binance addressing the outflows, follow-up analysis from TreeAI and other on-chain trackers on where the funds ultimately landed, and whether the addresses linked to Tornado Cash activity are confirmed or ruled out.
