Coinbase Exchange activates full trading for BLUECHIP-USD pair
The Base-chain memecoin graduated through Coinbase's phased listing process and now supports market, limit, and stop orders
Coinbase flipped the switch on full trading for BLUECHIP-USD on September 16, giving users access to market, limit, and stop orders across its web platform and mobile app. The token, a Base-chain memecoin that bills itself as “the bluechip of all memecoins,” had previously lived almost entirely on decentralized exchanges.
How the rollout worked
The exchange ran BLUECHIP through a structured three-stage process that started with an auction mode lasting at least 10 minutes without any trade matches.
From there, the token moved into a limit-only phase, where users could place limit orders but not market orders. This intermediate step lets the order book fill up with resting bids and asks before market orders can sweep through thin liquidity and cause wild price swings.
Only after that buffer period did Coinbase transition BLUECHIP-USD to full trading status, unlocking the complete suite of order types. The exchange has used this identical playbook for other lower-market-cap tokens like GRASS-USD and GROVE-USD.

Coinbase’s status page confirmed the transition, and users can now buy, sell, and convert BLUECHIP on both coinbase.com and the Coinbase mobile app.
What is BLUECHIP?
BLUECHIP is a memecoin built on Base, Coinbase’s layer 2 network. It has a total supply of 1 billion tokens and trades under the contract address 0xb200000000000000000000cfbdf64a8706a94a01.
Before landing on Coinbase, the token was primarily traded on decentralized exchanges including Uniswap V4 and Aerodrome. There is no doxxed team behind BLUECHIP, and no institutional backing has been referenced in any of the coverage surrounding the token.
