Coinbase opens full trading for DATA-USD and WHUF-USD pairs
Both tokens finished Coinbase's phased onboarding process, with all order types now live on Coinbase Exchange and Coinbase Advanced
Two more tickers are now fully open for business on Coinbase. The DATA-USD and WHUF-USD trading pairs now support all order types on Coinbase Exchange and Coinbase Advanced.
How the rollout worked
Full trading for both pairs went live starting October 8, 2026, after the exchange’s usual staged onboarding.
Each pair began in auction mode, which lasted at least 10 minutes. During an auction, buyers and sellers submit orders that are matched together at a single opening price.
Next came limit-only mode. Traders could post limit orders, meaning they name the exact price they will accept. Market orders, which execute immediately at whatever price is available, stayed switched off.
Only after that did Coinbase move the pairs to full trading with every order type enabled.

Two tokens, two very different backstories
DATA is not a new project so much as a new name. The token is a rebrand and migration of the former Story (IP) token. Trading in the old token was suspended on October 5, 2026. It was re-enabled around October 7-8 under the new DATA ticker. The swap ran at a 1:1 ratio. Holders of the old token received the same number of DATA tokens, and the exchange came at no cost to them.
WHUF is the genuinely new arrival. Short for Whuffie, it is the native asset of the Ethos Network, which is built around a decentralized reputation platform.
WHUF reached Coinbase after a public sale that closed on September 8, 2026. That sale raised $8.4 million from 1,560 participants, with tokens priced at $4.20 each. The token has a fixed supply of 10 million. Of that total, 20% was set aside for the public sale. Twenty percent of 10 million is 2 million tokens, and 2 million tokens at $4.20 apiece comes to the $8.4 million raised. That works out to an average of roughly $5,385 per participant.
A transfer lock on withdrawals expired on the same day full trading opened. So the day the order book fully unlocked was also the day sale participants gained more freedom to move their tokens.
