Comp AI raises $34M in Series A to automate compliance with open-source platform

The AI-native compliance startup, which launched from stealth just over a year ago, is growing fast in a market where manual audits still dominate.

Comp AI, a cybersecurity and compliance startup operating under the legal name Bubba AI, Inc., has closed a $34 million Series A round led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures. The raise marks a significant step up for a company that only emerged from stealth in April 2025 with a much smaller pre-seed war chest.

The Silicon Valley-born startup builds an open-source, AI-native platform designed to automate the painful, spreadsheet-heavy grind of achieving compliance certifications like SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR.

From pre-seed to Series A in under a year

Comp AI’s trajectory has been aggressive. The company raised $2.6 million in a pre-seed round co-led by OSS Capital and Grand Ventures, closing that funding in late July to early August 2025. Angel investors David Cramer and Ben Tossell also participated in that earlier round.

By mid-2026, Comp AI reported annual recurring revenue between $5 million and $7 million, with a customer base somewhere between 680 and 900 companies. The company claims its platform has saved early users more than 2,500 hours of manual labor.

The founding team consists of Lewis Carhart as CEO, Claudio Fuentes as COO, and Mariano Fuentes as CTO. The company has relocated its headquarters to Aventura, Florida, and plans to build out a global team of around 23 employees by mid-2026, with intentions to hire roughly 20 additional people following the raise.

Why compliance automation is a growing market

For many companies, achieving and maintaining certifications like SOC 2 can cost well north of $25,000 per year when you factor in consulting fees, audit costs, and the internal labor required to keep everything documented and current.

Comp AI’s pitch is straightforward: automate up to 90% of those processes using AI, offer the solution at a fraction of the traditional cost, and open-source the core platform under the AGPLv3 license so companies can inspect and trust the code running their compliance workflows.

The company reported more than 3,500 companies participating in pre-launch testing. Comp AI’s stated long-term goal is to help 100,000 companies achieve compliance with major frameworks by 2032.
