Dragon Ranger Gaming signs Verse ahead of VCT Stage 2 debut
The Beijing-based esports organization adds Zhou 'Verse' Zijun to a seven-player roster before VCT China group stage kicks off July 9
Dragon Ranger Gaming has locked in Zhou “Verse” Zijun as its newest roster addition, bolstering the Beijing-based Valorant squad to seven players just before the VCT 2026 China Stage 2 group stage begins.
The signing, completed on June 28, gives DRG roughly 11 days to integrate Verse before the team’s opening match against Bilibili Gaming on July 9.
A calculated addition, not a gamble
Verse already has two competitive matches under his belt with DRG, both played during Evolution Series events.
Coming out of the Evolution Series, a development circuit designed to surface regional talent in China’s Valorant scene, Verse has built a reputation for strong game-reading abilities and tactical awareness.
DRG’s full roster now reads: Nicc, vo0kashu, SpiritZ1, Flex1n, Life (Qu Donghao), Akeman, and Verse.
DRG’s trajectory in VCT China
Dragon Ranger Gaming has been a fixture in the VCT China league since 2023. Their participation in Masters London 2026 earlier this year showed they can compete on the international stage.
DRG’s opening match against Bilibili Gaming on July 9 will immediately test whether the Verse addition has sharpened or disrupted the team’s chemistry.
The broader competitive landscape
The EVO circuit functions as a proving ground where players like Verse can demonstrate their capabilities against structured competition before making the jump to the main VCT stage.
