Figma becomes official launch partner for OpenAI’s new B2B Marketplace
The design platform joins roughly 32 partners in a marketplace that lets enterprise customers spend their existing OpenAI commitments on third-party software.
OpenAI just built itself a shopping mall for enterprise software, and Figma scored a storefront on opening day.
The collaborative design platform announced at OpenAI’s DevDay 2026 on September 29 that it is one of approximately 32 official launch partners for OpenAI’s new B2B Marketplace. The marketplace lets eligible enterprise customers redirect a portion of their existing OpenAI spending commitments toward purchasing approved partner products, essentially turning AI budget line items into a broader software procurement tool.
How the marketplace actually works
Companies that have already committed spending to OpenAI can now use a chunk of that budget to buy Figma’s design tools, or products from other partners, without negotiating entirely separate contracts. OpenAI manages the eligibility criteria for which spending qualifies, while partners like Figma handle the direct customer relationships.
Figma’s fellow launch partners include Adobe, Datadog, Salesforce, and HubSpot, among others. That’s a lineup that covers design, developer tools, CRM, and marketing automation, suggesting OpenAI is trying to position the marketplace as a one-stop hub for the core enterprise software stack.
A relationship that’s been building
This marketplace partnership didn’t come out of nowhere. Figma and OpenAI have been steadily deepening their technical integration over the past year.

In October 2025, Figma launched a ChatGPT app integration that allowed users to pull AI capabilities directly into their design workflows. Then in February 2026, the company introduced Codex-related features that bridged the gap between code and design, letting developers and designers collaborate more fluidly with AI-assisted tooling.
The B2B Marketplace represents the commercial evolution of that technical relationship. Where earlier integrations focused on making AI useful inside Figma’s product, this move focuses on making Figma easier to buy for companies already invested in OpenAI’s ecosystem.
What OpenAI is really building
Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud have all built marketplace ecosystems where customers can purchase third-party software through their existing cloud commitments. AWS Marketplace alone processes billions in annual transactions. OpenAI appears to be adapting this model for the AI spending era, recognizing that enterprise customers are increasingly allocating dedicated budgets for AI tools and infrastructure.
OpenAI’s marketplace launches with approximately 32 partners rather than thousands, which keeps the catalog curated. A smaller, vetted partner list could signal quality to enterprise buyers, but it also means OpenAI is picking winners and losers in the software ecosystem, which gives it significant leverage over which companies get access to this distribution channel.
