KuCoin is shutting the door on users in Russia and Belarus. The exchange announced on October 29, 2026, that it is ending all products and services for customers located in both countries, effective immediately.
Affected users will get instructions on closing their positions and pulling their assets off the platform.
What KuCoin announced
The decision covers the full range of KuCoin’s offerings for users in the two countries. This isn’t a partial restriction on certain products or a freeze on new signups. It is a complete exit.
Users will receive notifications tied to their specific accounts. Those messages will explain how to wind down positions and withdraw funds.
What KuCoin has not published is a universal withdrawal deadline. That leaves some users without clear guidance on how long they have to act.
KuCoin explained the move by pointing to “applicable legal and regulatory requirements.” It did not name the specific regulations or legal frameworks that triggered the decision.

A pattern forming in October
KuCoin is not acting alone. It is the third major exchange this month to restrict services in the region, following Bitget and MEXC, both of which imposed similar limits earlier in October 2026.
The scale matters here. KuCoin ranks eighth on CoinMarketCap, serves approximately 45 million users worldwide, and handles nearly $1.2 billion in daily trading volume.
The sanctions backdrop
The broader context stretches back to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Since then, Western governments have layered on sanctions aimed at cutting off Russian access to the global financial system.
The European Union has committed to tightening crypto-specific restrictions to keep sanctioned parties from using digital currencies to dodge penalties.
KuCoin also carries its own regulatory history. In January 2025, the exchange reached a $300 million settlement with US authorities over unlicensed money transmission.
What this means for users and the market
The most immediate impact falls on users in Russia and Belarus who hold funds or open positions on KuCoin. Without a published universal deadline, the safest assumption is that delay carries risk.
Account-specific notifications put the burden on each user to read and act on their own instructions.
