Lido contributors are teaming up to co-host the Ethereum Forward Defence Summit on November 4, 2026, in Mumbai. The event is timed to land squarely in the middle of Devcon 8 India week, giving it a captive audience of thousands of Ethereum developers, researchers, and protocol engineers already in town for the Ethereum Foundation’s flagship conference.
Devcon 8 and Mumbai’s security week
Devcon 8 India runs from November 3 to November 6 at Mumbai’s Jio World Centre. It’s the Ethereum Foundation’s premier annual developer conference, and the kind of event that spawns dozens of satellite gatherings across the host city. The Forward Defence Summit is one of them.
But it’s not the only security-oriented event on the calendar. The DeFi Security Summit, or DSS, is scheduled for October 31 to November 2, also in Mumbai. That three-day event brings together security auditors, protocol engineers, and researchers for deep technical sessions on smart contract security and protocol upgrade safety.
Lido has contributed to past DSS events, participating in discussions around secure protocol upgrades and layered defense strategies. The Forward Defence Summit on November 4 essentially picks up where DSS leaves off, creating a near-continuous block of security-focused programming that stretches across an entire week.

Why Lido’s involvement matters
Lido is Ethereum’s largest liquid staking protocol. As the protocol responsible for a massive share of staked ETH, its security posture has outsized implications for the entire network.
Throughout 2026, Lido has been engaged in validator consolidations, protocol upgrades, and expanding its institutional staking activities. Each of those workstreams introduces new attack surfaces. Validator consolidation changes how the protocol interacts with Ethereum’s consensus layer. Upgrades mean new code that hasn’t been battle-tested in production. Institutional staking means larger individual positions with correspondingly larger incentives for attackers.
