Liverpool contacts Monaco for winger Maghnes Akliouche, but PSG looms large
The Premier League club made an initial inquiry for the French international, though the player's heart appears set on Paris Saint-Germain
Liverpool has reached out to AS Monaco about signing winger Maghnes Akliouche, joining a crowded field of suitors for one of Ligue 1’s most exciting young talents. The inquiry, made earlier in the summer transfer window, signals the club’s intent to bolster its attacking options on the right wing.
Akliouche apparently has other plans. The 24-year-old French international has reportedly made it clear that his preferred destination is Paris Saint-Germain, and he’s said to have already agreed on personal terms with the Parisian club. Liverpool’s approach, while genuine, may amount to little more than a polite knock on a door that’s already closing.
What Liverpool is chasing
Akliouche has been a fixture in Monaco’s squad since his debut in 2021, racking up 109 appearances for the principality club.
Liverpool isn’t the only English club that’s been watching. Manchester United, Tottenham, and Newcastle have all been scouting Akliouche throughout this season.
Monaco has reportedly valued the winger between €50-70 million, which translates to roughly £42.6-60 million.
Akliouche has told both Liverpool and Manchester United that PSG is his priority.
The PSG factor
PSG’s pursuit hasn’t been entirely smooth, either. Monaco has rejected multiple bids from the Paris club, suggesting that the selling side is holding firm on its valuation.
