About Injective
Injective is a Layer 1 blockchain built for finance, providing infrastructure for decentralized exchanges, derivatives, lending, prediction markets, and other financial applications. Eric Chen and Albert Chon founded Injective Labs in 2018. The project was incubated through Binance Labs, and the Injective Chain with its native token launched on November 8, 2021. The network uses a Tendermint-based proof-of-stake consensus mechanism that delivers sub-second finality and supports over 25,000 transactions per second. Its native token, INJ, is used to stake and secure the network, pay transaction fees, and vote on governance proposals. The protocol runs a buy-back-and-burn auction mechanism that uses protocol revenue to purchase and permanently remove INJ from circulation, creating deflationary pressure. Staking rewards can mint new tokens, and while earlier figures described a hard cap near 100 million INJ, the total supply has since exceeded that level and is not fixed at a firm ceiling today. Developers can deploy DeFi applications on Injective across spot and derivatives trading, lending, and related services.
