Lucas joins Multicoin Capitalās investment team to back crypto founders
The former Bankless and Pods Media contributor joins a firm that has spent 2026 reshaping its leadership bench
Multicoin Capital has added a new name to its investment team. Lucas, who posts on X as @0x_Lucas, announced on October 1, 2026 that he had joined the firm to invest in crypto founders.
The timing comes with a bit of symmetry. Multicoin was founded on October 1, 2017, so the hire lands exactly nine years after the firm opened its doors.
What happened
Lucas used his post to confirm he was now part of Multicoin’s investment team, with a focus on backing crypto founders. On the same day, Multicoin partners Reed and Xethalis posted welcomes of their own.
His rƩsumƩ leans toward crypto media. Lucas previously worked with Pods Media and Bankless, two names familiar to anyone who spends time in crypto podcast feeds.
A year of reshuffling at Multicoin
Lucas walks into a firm that looks noticeably different than it did at the start of 2026. In February, co-founder Kyle Samani moved into an advisory role.

Samani co-founded Multicoin in 2017 alongside Tushar Jain. His step back from day-to-day duties marked one of the more visible changes at the firm since its launch.
A month later, in March 2026, Multicoin promoted Spencer Applebaum and Shayon Sengupta to General Partner and Co-Head of Venture. That move handed the venture practice to a new pair of leaders.
Multicoin’s venture business is anchored by its third venture fund, a $422 million vehicle raised in January 2022. The firm also runs strategies focused on tokens and public markets alongside the venture side.
What this means
The addition of Lucas may signal that Multicoin wants to lean harder into early-stage opportunities in crypto. Paired with the March promotions, it hints that the new venture leadership is putting its own stamp on how the team is built.
