Luka Modric’s CoinW partnership and MODRIC token, explained
The verified ambassador deal, the separate meme token, and the distinction investors should not miss.
Luka Modric reached 200 appearances for Croatia during the 2026 World Cup and also became a global ambassador for crypto exchange CoinW. A separate Solana token uses his name, but the available public records do not show that Modric launched or endorsed it.
The CoinW agreement is documented
CoinW announced Modric as its global brand ambassador on April 9, 2026. The exchange said the partnership would support educational content and World Cup-related fan programs.
This is a marketing relationship between the player and the exchange. It does not make every token using Modric’s name part of that agreement.
FIFA confirms the 200-cap milestone
Modric made his 200th appearance for Croatia in the team’s 1-0 win over Panama on June 23. FIFA reported the milestone after the match.
The sporting achievement helped keep Modric in global headlines, which can draw attention to both official sponsorships and unrelated speculative tokens.

The MODRIC token is a separate asset
CoinGecko tracks a Solana asset called Luka Modric. Its historical data showed a market capitalization near $100,000 and extremely low daily trading volume during parts of July 2026.
Neither CoinW’s partnership announcement nor FIFA’s coverage identifies that token as an official Modric product. Crypto Briefing also found no primary announcement from Modric connecting him to its creation. The token should therefore be treated as an unaffiliated asset unless the player or his authorized representatives provide verifiable confirmation.
Why the distinction matters
Celebrity-themed tokens can borrow attention from a real person without sharing revenue, intellectual property rights, or official approval. A familiar name is not proof of a commercial relationship.
Before trading any athlete-themed token, verify the contract address through an official channel, check whether the athlete has acknowledged it, and review actual liquidity rather than market capitalization alone. In this case, the CoinW ambassadorship is verified. The MODRIC token’s claimed relationship to the player is not.
