Manchester United has reportedly reached an agreement to sign Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos from Chelsea in a deal worth £50 million. The 22-year-old’s move, confirmed by multiple reports dated around July 5-8, 2026, includes a base fee of £48 million plus £2 million in performance-related bonuses. Chelsea has also retained a 10% sell-on clause on Santos’ future value.

Santos has agreed to personal terms on a five-year contract and is expected to undergo a medical examination soon.

Manchester United’s pursuit of Santos came after the club reportedly missed out on other midfield targets like Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes during this summer window. The £50 million price tag reflects both Santos’ versatility — he can operate as a defensive midfielder or in a more attacking role — and the premium that comes with being outmaneuvered on earlier targets.

For Chelsea, the club acquired Santos, developed his market value through various loan spells, and is now selling at a £50 million return. The 10% sell-on clause means Chelsea continues to earn from Santos after he leaves. If Manchester United eventually sells him for £80 million, Chelsea receives £8 million from that transaction.
