About BitMart
BitMart Token (BMX) is an ERC-20 utility token on the Ethereum blockchain, created for use within the BitMart centralized cryptocurrency exchange. It was first issued under the ticker BMC in December 2017 and rebranded to BMX in January 2018, with BitMart Exchange as its issuer. Because BMX runs on Ethereum rather than its own blockchain, it relies on Ethereum's proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. BMX is used on the BitMart platform primarily in trading pairs and for general platform-related functions. Its supply is capped at approximately 881 million BMX, down from an original planned volume of one billion. Circulating supply is roughly 324 to 339 million tokens as of 2026. BitMart has announced it will close its exchange on January 31, 2027, which may affect the token's future utility, though BMX continues to trade on available markets. BMX's practical use is closely tied to the ongoing operation of the BitMart platform.
