About PAX Gold
PAX Gold is a gold-backed token, with each unit representing one fine troy ounce of physical gold stored in professional vaults and held by Paxos Trust Company. It makes gold easier to divide, move, and use on blockchain platforms, including trading and decentralized finance. Paxos created and issued the token, launching it in September 2019. PAX Gold is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, so it relies on Ethereum's network for transaction security rather than running its own consensus. Its supply is elastic and tied to demand: tokens are minted when gold is deposited and burned when they are redeemed for metal, so there is no fixed maximum.
