About Raydium
Raydium is a decentralized exchange and automated market maker on the Solana blockchain. It combines AMM liquidity pools with a central limit order book, allowing token swaps, liquidity provision, and token launches. Three pseudonymous co-founders built the project: AlphaRay (strategy), XRay (technology), and GammaRay (marketing). Development began in late 2020, and Raydium launched on 21 February 2021, which also served as its token generation event. Raydium runs as a set of permissionless, non-custodial smart contracts on Solana's proof-of-stake network. It supports three pool types: classic constant-product pools, concentrated liquidity pools, and hybrid AMM pools. The native token, RAY, is used for staking to earn a share of protocol fees, receiving allocations in launchpad and IDO events, and voting on governance proposals. RAY has a fixed maximum supply of 555 million tokens, set at genesis with minting authority disabled. Circulating supply remains below that cap. Raydium handles a large share of Solana's on-chain trading activity, with its LaunchLab platform supporting new project launches and its routing layer directing swaps across the broader Solana ecosystem.
