About Sui
Sui is a layer-1 blockchain built for high-throughput applications, using an object-centric data model and the Move programming language. Its native token pays gas fees, backs staking, and is used for governance, and the network supports applications such as decentralized finance, NFTs, and gaming. Mysten Labs, founded by former Meta engineers who worked on the Diem blockchain, created Sui, and the mainnet launched in May 2023. It runs on a delegated proof of stake system, paired with the Narwhal, Bullshark, and Mysticeti components that handle transaction ordering and finality. The supply is capped at 10 billion SUI.
