About Telcoin
Telcoin is a blockchain-based, mobile-focused financial platform built to offer low-cost, borderless remittance and financial services to mobile phone users. Paul Neuner and Claude Eguienta co-founded the project in 2017 and based it in Singapore to connect telecommunications providers with blockchain technology. The TEL token was issued through an ICO in December 2017, with 20 billion tokens offered for sale. Telcoin originally launched as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and has since built Telcoin Network, an EVM-compatible public blockchain designed to be secured by telecom providers acting as validators in a proof-of-stake-style model. The native token, TEL, is the gas and transaction fee token for Telcoin Network and is used for governance and incentive mechanisms across the broader ecosystem, including its DeFi and application layers. Telcoin's main real-world use case is cross-border remittances. It integrates with mobile network operators and mobile money partners so users can send value internationally through their phones. TEL has a capped maximum supply of 100 billion tokens, with the circulating supply already in the tens of billions.
