About Trust Wallet
Trust Wallet is a non-custodial mobile cryptocurrency wallet that supports multiple blockchains and lets users store, send, and receive digital assets without a third party holding their keys. Viktor Radchenko founded the project in 2017, and Binance acquired it in July 2018, making it Binance's official decentralized wallet. Trust Wallet Token (TWT) launched in 2020, first as a BEP-2 token on Binance Chain and then relaunched as a BEP-20 token on BNB Chain in October 2020. It was distributed through airdrops with no fundraising round. TWT is a fungible smart-contract token on BNB Chain, which uses a proof-of-staked-authority consensus model. TWT does not operate a separate layer-one network. The token functions as a governance and utility token, giving holders the ability to vote on feature proposals and app development decisions and to access in-app perks and community incentives. TWT is not used to pay transaction fees on the network. The total supply is capped at approximately one billion tokens, with no new tokens mintable under the smart contract, following an early burn of nearly all of the original supply. Holders participate in on-chain governance to influence the wallet's development direction.
