About Virtuals Protocol
Virtuals Protocol is a blockchain-based launchpad for tokenizing AI agents and AI-native businesses onchain. The protocol is attributed to Prakash Somosundram, Colin Choo, Christopher Johnson, and Matthew, though this attribution is not confirmed in all official materials. The token generation event occurred on 24 December 2023, and the protocol reached broader activity by mid-2024. The core design uses bonding curves to bootstrap liquidity for new AI-agent tokens paired with VIRTUAL. Once a curve reaches a threshold of 42,000 VIRTUAL, liquidity automatically migrates to a Uniswap V2 pool. A 1% trading fee is split between creators and the Virtuals treasury. The native token, VIRTUAL, is the protocol's base utility asset, used for agent launch fees, liquidity pairing, and governance-adjacent staking through a veVIRTUAL mechanism. VIRTUAL has a fixed maximum supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens, allocated roughly 60% to the public, 5% to liquidity, and 35% to an ecosystem treasury. Approximately 659 million tokens were in circulation as of 2026. Within the ecosystem, VIRTUAL functions as the medium of exchange for AI-agent creation and service payments.
