Meta poaches top AWS executive as data center expansion accelerates: Report
The social media giant is building out Meta Compute, a cloud venture that puts it on a collision course with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Meta plans to hire Dave Brown, a senior executive from Amazon Web Services, as it continues to expand its AI infrastructure and data center operations, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Brown, who has worked at AWS for nearly 20 years, is expected to join Meta in the coming weeks. He will report to the company’s head of infrastructure and focus on advancing Meta’s data center build-out, according to the report.
The recruitment highlights Meta’s growing ambitions to develop the computing infrastructure required for its AI strategy, with investments in data centers and processing capacity becoming increasingly important.
By bringing in one of AWS’s top executives, Meta is adding experienced leadership to support its long-term infrastructure strategy amid intensifying competition across the AI and cloud computing sectors.
